I went to use my A/C for the first time in a while and discovered that it doesn't work. The switch itself seems okay...becuase all of its other functions still work ie:floor, defrost, max etc. but the a/c clutch doesnt kick on. I dont believe that its the clutch because its never made any noise or so on...i just dont think its gettin a signal. I checked the under hood minifuse and it looked fine, as well as the A/C relay. They both looked fine. What else could it be? could the switch be bad despite the other functions that it takes on still work? Thanks...99xlt

Could be out of R-134 refrigerant . If your system sits idle for a long time the 134 can leak out past your compressor seals . thats why even during the winter time you should kick the AC on once a week to keep the seals fresh with oil .
Id check and see if you have and refrigerant in it . If it's ok then pull the plug off the compressor and check for voltage with the AC on/engine off and it should be energized . There are a few switches that can cause the ac not to work under the hood . Also check you fuse(s) in the dash panel .

Another thing..try running it on cold temp setting in defrost mode...then see if it kicks on. also if you have under 36,000 miles I'd just tell ford to fix it under warentee....
