I can lock the doors with the keypad but that's the only thing that works. Bought the truck used so I don't have the key fob. Found the code on the alarm box in the rear compartment but it does nothing. All fuses are ok. What do I need to do to diagnose the alarm system?

What symptoms do you have that make you think the alarm is not working? I dont think that the perimeter alarm was standard so you might not even have an alarm.

THe door keypad should work just like a key fob so if you had an alarm, by locking the truck with the keypad you would activate it. And when you unlocked the door with your key and opened it, it would go off (horn Honks). If you unlock with the keypad, you will disable the alarm as well.

I know on my wifes Fusion, even if you unlock the door with the key and dont use the remote it still disables the alarm but I dont think Ex's have that feature. Even my 08 Ex doesnt have a alarm stock.

The box in the back is most likely not an alarm box, it's one of the computers for the truck. The code on it is the master code for the keypad that overrides any owner installed code.

Why do you think the truck has an alarm system? If it's the flashing light on the dash when it's turned off, that's the PATS (Passive Anti Theft System) light, not an alarm light. PATS is part of the key and ignition system. The truck can't start if it doesn't recognized the key that is in the ignition.

Opened the door one day and the alarm went off, so it does work but for some reason I can't unlock the door with the keypad.

so actually the ONLY THING that doesn't work, the "unlock" function.... your first post is very misleading. Anyways, you have a broken PK/LG wire somewhere between the module and the unlock relay.... (assuming 95 and 96 wirings are similar).

One time my alarm, key pad and FOB quit working after I left my lights on and drained the battery. I recharged the battery and still nothing. Finally I decided to disconnect the battery again to see if it would reset and It started working again.
