a/c trouble

hey,

i have a 98 explorer and when i turn the a/c on, the compressor turns itself on and off about every 5 seconds continually and it doesn't cool the car down. i cant get a freon level reading either due to the short amount of time the compressor runs. any suggestions?

Welcome to this forum! It sounds like the level is low. What's the temperature down there? It's freezing up north.

A/c

the weather is really nice. around 75 for a high. i cant get the compressor to run long enough to give it a charge.

You have to jump the A/C cycling switch with a wire while refilling it with freon. I would love to get 75 degrees here.

34 degrees going down to 23. It says that it feels like 28 with the 7 MPH wind.

compressor trouble

you were right. i had to jump the cycle switch to check the freon level, and it was almost empty. i filled it and the a/c runs great. thanks for all your help.

Just butting in, but...

It was in the 70s here today, too. It felt good to have the A/C instead of the heat on finally!
