My 6 cyl., 2wd. Explorer leaks freon. My local tech could not find the leak, suggested the dealer. Has anybody gone through this? My guy fills it back up and everything is fine but within a few weeks, warm air.

Thanks. :exp:

It's not rocket science. seals, evaporator, condensor are all possilble sources of leaks.

Try leak dye or a "sniffer"

common leak points are any joint with an O-ring seal, the compressor shaft, and the accumulator (rusts under the foam pad). Dye is good to add to the 134, but you need a blacklight to see it... a "sniffer is best. If your dealer isn't using one, go to a specialty shop that uses them..... they can find a leak you can't find any other way.

The accumulator would be my first place to check. V8Boatbuilder did a great thread on here with pictures of his and what he discovered, etc...

here it is... (saved ya some time)
