My long term slow moving project, Not exactly an explorer anymore but it still is at heart. all the drivetrain and chassis will still be an explorer.

Whoa! Awesome!

nice! Im subscribing for more pictures as you make progress!

subscribing...what year and make body are you using?

Started with 91 explorer, No particular reason other than the price was right and I was looking to go with a 4x4. The project cab is a 47 ford. Front end will be a 41 merc car fenders with the 47 ford truck hood. back end will be a custom built box with the 47 truck front fenders flipped around and used for rear fenders. Thats the plan for now but is easily changed. my build is using whatever I get for a cheap price. Hoping to run 33-35" tires.

That's quite the venture. I can't wait to see this progress.

How many inches did you "chop" the top? or is the pic deceiving?

5 inches,

Yeah im goin out on a limb here and doing something different with a chopped hot rod. :) I know lots of hot rodders will look at it and be disappointed but I think it will be fun.

freind of mine is putting his 48 ford (not chopped) on a 2008 f450 frame, not sure if hes keeping the 4x4 or not though but deff not going for what you got there. cant wait to see this finished.

That would be pretty knarly.

Slid the cab up to the engine, hooked the steering column back up and some of the wiring. The cab is sitting a little high for now until I cut out some of the floor to clear the transfer case. Need to mount the brake and gas pedals and get the shift linkage hooked up again then it might actually drive. But it still runs. :)

That's looking AWESOME! Would you post a pic of it head on? I'm interested to see how wide the cab is compared to the frame.

Probably not quite the angle down. Cant really see the frame. I'll take a better one tomorrow.

Today I cut part of the floor out so I could drop the truck down closer to the frame. I don't really need a 6" body lift. So I lifted part of the floor up 3" to clear the transfer case.
