first off, id like to thank everyone for being so helpful in the past. That 4wd mod is a blast. had some crazy smoke going on for a while
anyways...i have an 01 explorer xlt 4x4 4.0.
I noticed it HAS NO TOW HOOKS? anybody know where i can get them? if so, is there a better make/model to buy? Where do they mount? I think i have a clue but im not sure.
i was wondering if this is normal. Whenever i start my truck when it is completely cold i get a knocking noise for about 5-30 seconds then it usually goes away. Whats with that? Also, if im in a mickey d's drive through and the engine noise echos against teh wall...i hear a slight tapping noise. I cant tell if this is normal valve noise or if i have dirty/problem valves or something else all together.
Let me also state that since i got teh truck i have changed oil every 2k miles w/ filter and ALWAYS warmed up engine and add half a quart of lucas oil stabilizer.
I used LUCAS fuel treatment many times and the slight tapping noise is stilll there. btw, tapping noise and knocking noise are two different scenarios.
ALSO, i read in the 'tips' section that they make a performance chip. Is this chip for 4.0's also? how much do they cost and how hard are they to install?
Lately, the engine has been idling rough but i read this in the tips area as well that is might be the mass air sensor. ill clean that and then get back to you on that.
