Ok this is what my X has been doing.

First off, my X seems like it has a miss, it comes and goes. Well yesterday I was messing with it and it started to miss a little, but everytime it did miss I heard a little click coming from the passenger side floor. And the other the day the CEL came on and it comes on and off everynow and then.

Next, I'm not sure if its the fluid level or what but when I put my X in Rev it goes right into gear, but when I put it in Drive it takes like 3-5secs before it goes into gear. Anybody else have this problem?

Last, my fuel guage is being strange. It reads some time and then it doesn't later. I just went and put 13 dollars in it and its reads E.

I would start by making a search for and cleaning up the ground wire contacts in your truck.

The transmission issue is different, and it is likely the governer valve in the tail housing of the tranny. Do a search hear for governer and you will find tons of links, including how you can fix this problem yourself without pulling the tranny.

A good start whenever the CEL comes on is to run the EEC-IV self-tests (aka pull the codes).
That little click from the passenger side floor is interesting. Can you isolate it? It's not real common, but I have heard of inertia switches that go bad. There's an article on this at http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/InertiaSwitch.html

Yeah, I kinda thought that it might be that switch too. I know that its in that area. Before I got my X it had hit what I think was a guardrail, and I think that may have messed up that switch. I'm gonna try and take my X by my brothers shop and see if they can pull the codes for me. And something else to include is that last night I was looking and theres a switch on the side of the intake that has a hose running from the header. The switch is a silver rectangle and the plug in is on the rear side towards the firewall. It's mounted on its own little plate. Anyways it has two hoses that come out of the bottom, one runs from the exhaust, and the other, I think goes to the EGR. Anyways last night when I looked I found that both of the hoses had wide open cuts in them. I wraped them in tape to get buy, but as soon as I started it up the CEL came on and has stayed on. Any ideas?

Well, I looked at the switch and it wasn't the problem. I got to looking and on the drivers side with the EGR those 2 little hoses that come off the header and go to te EGR. Well when I looked they were both so old they had cracked and brittle. Replacled them and now its running alright. The tranny has got worse but I haven't done the search (fixin too) and I think it's low on fluid (gonna check it in a few).

-Later, Cody
