So, as the title states this question may be dumb. But why cant I buy a lift for a 95' X instead of getting one for my 01'? Because the only lift that i have found for an 01' XLT 4X4 is the 4" superlift which costs $$$$, and I know that for the time being I will not need the extra 4". all Im looking for is a nice little 2" to fit some bigger tires for some trail riding around the valley. As it stands Ive only bottomed out once, and that was do to me being careless. ANY input is greatly appreciated. Thx guys!

If all you want is 2" of lift then why not just do a Torsion Twist up front and an Add-a-Leaf or Warrior Shackles in the rear.

Well mainly because I don't know much about trucks. Are these mods fairly cheap?

I just did the Pro-Comp add-a-leaf for like $42 shipped. That got me something like 1.5" in the rear and added a little bit of carrying capacity. And then I did the TT to match.

i've always used autozone shackles and i've had no problems at all and they are $17 and you still get about 2 inches

Thanks for the help guys! But Im having trouble finding the shackles online

I don't know anything about lifts but this other thread caught my eye. Not trying to discourage it, but if you want one do some good homework.

That is for a 3rd gen truck, we are talking about 2nd gens here. Completely different suspension setup in the front and back. Lifting a second gen like has been stated won't put the ball joints at dangerous angles, and it doesn't matter with a straight axle in the rear.

And the torsion twist won't put any strain on my cv joints right?

If you lift it more than 2", then yes it will put extra stress on the CV joints. Keep it reasonable and you'll be fine. If you go more than 2", you'll get good at replacing CV's.
