- 1991 ford ranger xlt
I am a new member here and have not yet learned how to navigate the forums.
I recently acquired a one-of-a-kind 1991 ranger Ext. cab with a 3.0Lv6 and
A4LD transmission. The only major problem with it is on the initial start-up
the trans shift from park to reverse is quite slow (15 to 20 sec.).in idle and with a hard JERK and CLUNK. Otherwise it operates normally.
I thought the Transgo-sk-A4LD kit would help. Can this kit be installed with the trans in the truck? (I have checked a couple of sources that say it is to be used with a complete overhaul, others say trans does not have to be removed)
Do I need I need to get additional valve body gaskets? (In addition to a new filter kit).
I just discovered another problem. I did a DNA (DiagnosticNoseAnalysis---eg. sniff test) which revealed that the trans fluid has some power steering fluid in it!! I don't know how much or how long it has been in there.
Probably not very long. It is very clean and the truck has been driven very little recently.
I will greatly appreciate any and all the constructive assistance I can get!
Has anyone had any experience with mixed fluid in the trans, and what is the likely result?
