Hi all. I bought my 1993 Ex about three months ago, and since then it has mostly been sitting in my garage while I did the front end, the brakes, cleaned/painted, etc.

On the few trips that I took her, she's been a real good girl.

Today I noticed this: when in "Drive" but stopped, the tranny seems to make a popping / knocking sound, like bump bump-bump bump bump bump-bump; as soon as I put it in park it goes away.

When it warms up all the way, it all but disappears.

I am thinking torque converter because, well, stopped in drive is what it is supposed to handle... but - torque converter what?

Filter has been changed, but a complete fluid flush not done.

parts not in pan

Well, pan was dropped to change the filter, like, a month ago. It looked _really_ nice and clean in there.

Sometimes bad mounts or loose exhaust flanges could rattle. Do you have 4WD? They are known for making rattling noises. Torque converters usually make whining noises.

Yeah, true... Gonna crawl around some more tonight and look for more loose stuff and look at the transmission mount...

crawled around underneath the truck while in "Drive" and with parking break (yeah I know, Darwin award candidate).

The kicking seems to be coming from the motor, not the transmission. The transmission mount is solid. Something inside the engine is 'jerking'...
