So there is this noise that I am a bit worried about. It seems that when I let off the gas I hear a (pop/clunk) from under the truck...It almost sounds like a loose U-Joint though I checked and they won't budge under me moving them around.

I also hear a bit of a pop when I reverse and then stop and put it in drive and give a bit of gas.

I am thinking either u-joint or spider gears.

If anyone has experienced this and come up with a remedy I greatly appreciate hearing all info that can help.

I had heard of using LockTight somewhere but forgot the details. :(

Also I am thinking it may be the torque converter disengageing, slamming out.

Your explanation sounds kind of vague, but it may be your slip yoke in the drive shaft.

Does it make any noise when going over bumps, speed bumps or dips?

Well it seems that there is a gap, and once that (whatever is making the noise) is torqued in one direction it won't pop again until I torque it the other way. Going from drive to reverse usually does it.

Now I am wondering when I let off the gas there enough pressure (lag) in the opposing direction when I let off the gas to cause this to pop.

I am not sure how much pressure this requires (if it is the slip joint) as I can't seem to re-create it when I crawl under there and move the drive shaft and such.

Mine does that every once and awhile only when letting off the gas I think mine is the torque convertor not disengaging right:(

Yea I am a bit worried as I hope it is something that won't leave me stranded.

All I know is that it is definately something aft. of the transmission unless of course it is the torque converter.

I wonder if this is a common problem???

Mine does this too. I'm thinking it's either axle wrap or the front slip yoke.

Mine has been doing it for 3 years:(

Mine was doing that too. I look and checked every part at least 10 times and finally found that it was the Pinion Bushing ($17.00) on the left side.

Runs great now.

Do you have more details on the Pinion bushing? I am not sure that I know what this is.

Thanks,

Fischer

My mechanic described it to me as the Front Radius Arm connecting point to the axle ?

Wish I could explain it better but it was the first time i've heard of that my self. I had this repair made about 5 days ago and haven't had a chance to talk further with the mechanic, but as soon as I do I will give your further info. I like to know so that I can possibly do the repair myself next time.

It took the mechanic about 1 1/2 hrs to install and my 92 Ex runs great now.
