looks like i have factory sil. i didnt check the sil. with a 12v lead, just assumed they worked. would bad sil. cause this engagement prob.? i rebuilt vb with transgo kit today and still have the problem. or are the clutches just bad as everyone says?

the truck shifts alot better now and seems more firm, although it does feel like 4th might be slipping a little, im not sure though. i still dont understand how it can run perfect once in gear, but still have bad clutches!

There are only two solenoids. One is for the TCC & the other is for the 3-4 shift. First, second, and third gear are hydraulically controlled. It's a good idea to clean both solenoids since they could get filled up with small fragments. You have to take them out, do a "click test" with 12 volts, and spray them with WD-40.
