Okay, when I first got my ex, the tranny was basically shot. I went to the junkyard and got one out of an ex that had been rear-ended. I checked it out real good, and adjusted everything I could before I put it in my '94. It has been running pretty good for about eight months now, but it is slipping in first and reverse pretty bad. I can get a master rebuild kit with all the gaskets, seals, frictions and steels from NAPA for about $150, but it doesn't have the bands in the kit. I was going to buy that, thinking that it would be all that I could need, but after talking with a friend of mine that rebuilds trannys for a living, he said that if it was just slipping in first and reverse, then that would be the one-way sprag and planetary. Does this sound correct? If anybody (Glacier991, Fortune410, anybody?) knows of something else that would cause the slipping in first and reverse that would be an easier fix, please let me know. Thanks, Jason

Also, I forgot to mention that I have already adjusted the bands....is there a way to adjust the low/reverse band?...and the fluid is in good shape. It doesn't slip in any other gears as far as I can tell. It still shifts good, and it seems like there should be some "simple" fix to this problem.

Check the O rings on the low/reverse servo, and the cover gasket with 4 holes.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but after my trans guy said something about the one-way sprag being worn out, I figured I would try to find out something.
