Hello all
I just bought a 93 4 door XLT explorer with the A4LD trans. I have some questions for you guys on it. The Truck has 162,000 miles on it and from what I can tell it is the orginal trans. Now when the truck is cold, like first thing in the morning, it shifts great through all the gears no problems. As the truck warms up it starts to shift bad. So lets say I am at a stop light and I go to leave the light. It will start in first then just rev up and then if I let off the gas and it will shift through second and into third, once I am in third it is just fine I can floor it and it will go into overdrive from there and I am good to go. Now sometimes it will shift from 1 to 2 but it will be very soft, times when it does that it will then flar about 1000 rpm between second and third.
Now I did check the fluid, it looks to be a little over filled. There isn't any leaks. The fluid is not burned or anything and it is red. Now my question, is it time for a rebuild or is there anything that can be done. I am thinking that I am going to drop the pan, change the filter and flush it then add some of that Lucus trans stuff just to prolong it as long a possiable before I HAVE to do the rebuild. Is there anything you guys would suggest to try other then what I have listed?
Thanks in advance.
