Just a follow-up to all that replied to my post on the '94 problem.

Took it in to the local Ford dealer, was told they roadtested it, and needed bands, servos; etc. The viable option is a Ford re-man unit, total cost about $2500 installed. This includes a Ford 36/36000 warranty.

Any alternatives?

Thanks!

They are out there for that price

But, I think that listing is for the manual 5 speed. 94 is a 4 speed A4LD. If you search around, you can find someone to do it for as low as $1,000. I know of locals that will rebuilt them for $250 up depending on parts an people that will install them for $200. Not often easy to find but they are out there. Don't get a junkyard transmission.

trans problems

Thanks for the reply, and, yes, have decided against a junkyard unit. How would you rate the choice of Amco/Cottman vs a factory Ford unit?

This is a local Florida Explorer we intend to keep for a long time. Cost is always an issue, but want to get the best.

Thanks again for responding!
