how hard is it to rebuild a A4LD transmission, is there any special tools you need to buy and how long would it take with a rebuild kit?

The rear snap ring is a little difficult to remove & install, and the shift pin in the bottom of the case is a little tricky to remove. Some of the parts in the valve body could be hard to remove. The center support rings, and the clutch pack seals need to be installed very carefully in order to avoid damage. The pump alignment tool is pretty important, so you shouldn't take any shortcuts if you don't have this tool. A 1/4" drive In/Lb torque wrench should be used to tighten the valve body bolts, and adjust the bands.

Well... Im sixteen and i rebuilt mine on my own.. to me it wasnt that hard. i did have the atsg manual to go by though. the hardest part was getting it out of the car and putting it back in. but then again i didnt have a trans jack.
