I had to drop down my valve body on a A4OD and during this endeavor i seem to have lost or can not find all the check balls. my question is this how many balls are there, and also the small wire looking retainers [shaped like a "7"]. i happen to have an extra one of those also. a really good close up pic would be ideal perhaps one knows of a URL addy they can forward me too or anything thanks

by my count there are 4 balls (one check 3 shuttle) and 4 L shaped retainers. I am betting the L pin you have is from the bore directly across from the TCC clutch solenoid (the one on the end). It fits mid bore and holds in the 3/4 backout valve. Leaving it out would not be obvious and you'd still have everything held in the VB.

VERY HELPFUL sorry caps. however i notice spots for 6 balls and while only holding 4 in hand its rather a guess as to witch four holes to put the balls into, because there will still be two holes looking as they also need balls ...... so i guess i need to know witch holes :)and roger on the"L" clips much appreciated you always got great advice glacier991 from not only yo me but to every post i have read. good work!!

Let me try and see if I can scan and post a diagram for the checkball/shuttle ball locations, if not I can snail mail ya.
