AAL FOR A 98 2 DOOR, IS IT POSSIBLE?

HELLO EVERYONE,

I WAS WONDERING IF I COULD PUT ON AAL TO MY 98 2D 4X4 X. I ALREADY HAVE SHACKLES/TT BUT I NEED MORE STABILITY. WILL AAL HELP? AND, DOES ANYONE KNOW SOME GOOD AAL TO BUY AND WERE CAN I BUY THEM, I AM NEW ON THIS SITE, AND I HAVE DONE SEARCHES FOR THIS, BUT I CANT FIND ANYTHING ON 98'S. IT SEEMS I CANT DO MANY SUSPENSION MODS TO A 98 SPORT. I THANK EVERYONE IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.

Anyway, you should first swap in leaf packs from a 4 door (any 91-01 will work). This will give you an entire leaf pack. This in itself may give you the needed lift. If not, then you can put in an aal. The sport leaf packs only have expensive aal kits available, and they tend to not work as well as 4 door packs with aals.

Oh, and I recommend the ProComp aal kits.

1) ~1", $27, single
2) ~2.25", $75, double aal for each side

I also have a 98 sport that im trying to lift a little. i did the TT/Shackle thing and ive already decided to replace the leaf packs....

Does it have to a a newer 4 door explorer? I thought the new sports also have leaf packs. Or will the 4 door packs give a little more lift because they're heavier? Also- is it still an even swap in size or will we have to modify the brackets?

One last thing, i promise!--- Is it ok to put the new leaf packs on WITH the warrior shackles?

Pre 95 and 99+ (or 00+?) sports have multiple leaf packs. However, they don't have the spring rates of the 4 door packs and I still recommend the 4 door packs. Any 4 door pack 91-01 will work, but the lower the miles the better; and offroad use, towing, or a bad accident can weaken them. There is no modification needed, they'll swap straight in; with or without warrior shackles.

The 4 dr spring packs at definantly worth it. ive got them in my 97 and they help to control roll but im probably going to go with aals to help stiffen it up some more. i get alot of sway with 33s and no rear sway bar.

sorry i dont have any pics, but i saw your truck and we have the same exact truck. same colar and pannels. did yours come with 4:10's and 31's? i was recently rearended and the truck isnt looking so good. when its back up in show condition i will post some picks. keep yours looking mean, looks great. love the hood and all your mods.

aal are a good help, but the 4door packs work wounders. have a great holiday everyone!!
