I am looking to lift my 95 4Dr 4x4 XLT and i wanted to leave my stock tires on (gonna milk them for all they are worth, im on a college budget) and I was wondering what mod should i make to the rear, the ProComp AAL or the WAR153 Shackles. I will twist the torsion bars up front, but i am stuck on the rear. What is the lift height difference between the two options? Ride Quality? Ease of Install? Overall Quatlity? any and all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

shackles are really easy on my 95 they were but it was a florida truck never seen cold till 2 months ago.
took me 20 minutes alone to add shackles and just the cheap ones from autozone.
will add add a leafs soon with spindles up front because if you crank the bars up too much you get a very harsh ride...that is my experience iwth it..
good luck...

i cant do spindles, its a 4x4. I was just wondering the difference in overall quality and stuff. Its a daily driver, i dont know much about the two, but i definately want to do one of the two. Anyone else have any input or experiences with the two products.

my belief is that add a leafs make for a much stiffer ride.since you are making the spring pac much tougher
i know you cant do spindels i was referring to mine.

Shackles are much easier to install, and AALs stiffen up your ride.

I have a TT up front that gave it about 1.5-2 inches. I used both the shackles and the Explore pro comp AAL in te ack. The AAL has settled a bit since I put in 2 years ago. At first, the back was slightly higher than the front (noticable by the observant naked eye), but it look good, a nice mean stance for an SUV/truck. Now it is level and look good, click on my links below, but I have 31 BFG All-terrain tire son it now. I can send you more picks of just the TT done later on if you want, with stock tires, etc. PM me or sen dme your email address.

I would just go ahead and do the shackles and aal at the same time. You know your going to end up installing them later on anyhow. I did the shackles and tt, but then it turned out not to be enough. So get like $100 together and get both. Once your done with that you'll like it but it still wont be enough. ....what is enough lol

I started with shackles

Added a leaf

A year later I am planning on ordering a set of 3" lifted custom spring packs from Carrier springs. I will reinstall using the factory sackles and of course new poly bushings.

The AAL I will hang on to for possible future use.

The shackles can hit the garbage for all I care :thumbdwn:

If you are only doing one or the other, IMO, do the AAL. Your leaf packs are probably to the point of sagging, and an AAL would help with this situation, whereas longer shackles will only help to hurt the sagging even more. And also with the longer shackles, they just flat hang low, which is a) ugly imo, and b) more stuff to get caught on stuff.

And, while doing the AAL, swap your leaf packs from side to side...........this will help with the "driver side sag" that your ride has to have by now. :D

Where do you guys get your AAL's from? I can't find them for less than $250 up here :( Also what are the center to center measurement from hole to hole on the aftermarket shackles?

I got a single AAL from summit racing. They were around $40 if I remember correctly.

Do the Shackles and AAL at the same time and make it easy on yourself. I did shackles first, and you could hardly notice the difference. Summit Racing has single aal for under $40.00 if they are the same price as when I got them a year ago.

i id the shakles from autozone and got almost 2 inches from them..

that is what i am doigng this weekend. spindle at the front and aal with shackles at the rear. will let u guys know how that works out.
