Hi,, i own a 92 XLT 4x4 4 door, and bought it a few months ago, all buildup and fixing up of the vehical is going well,, anyway my ? is,,,,
i droped the spare tire down yesterday, to see how much room there was to get to the shocks and to check the cable. (btw i put monro sensi trac's up front and going to be putting them on the front WOW what a great shock for this vehical)
anyway,, the thing is the spare is a firestone,, looks like the original firestone and original spare rim.
i have since i got the vehical with 145k on it put new tires all the way around, but what about that spare? can i get a new tire out of it?
and if so how do i do so here in PA.
go to a ford dealer?
thanx for reading and any help you may be!

to add to and correct what tuby posted,,

i call ford,, they indeed said what tuby posted was true, but laso told me to call a firestone dealer and ask what they had still,, so i took my rig to a local FS dealer, and no ?'s asked i have a brand new Firestone inplace of my old spare,, free tire,, cant beat that, im going to wear my currect goodyear gs/a's down a bit more then buy the remaining (3) firestones . kinda like a buy 3 get the 4th free,, im happy lol,, hmm,, wonder if i can find a couple more old firestones LOL
thanx for the info guys:)

I have one that is like brand new...I think it has 5 miules on it (well 150k under my truck). I think I will go to Firestone and pay the difference to get a nice big spare for my Kennesaw Bumper that is showing up tomorrow.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

There is nothing wrong with the firestones imo the rollovers where due to driver incompetence. If any dumbass driving 80mph on low tires then hits something and gets a flat then slams on the brakes your gonna flip i dont care what youre driving. out of over a million explorers how many have rolled 200? 300? i see alot of A**holes out on the road driving there explorers beyond the trucks limits.. its a truck not a car! sheesh.

damn straght. i loved the virestones. they were sticky and held traction real well. now i got goodyear wildernes tires and i hate them. they are hard and don't stop well. i actually slip in more corners with these then the old firestones.

besides the fact that i have read a lot on these cases and a lot had pot in the car at the time. i'll try and find the article i read that in... it was a while ago though.

So well the tires held onto the road better then they held on to the tire itself... LOL :D :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
