ok, i use royal purple 5w-30 and a k&n oil filter. im out of work right now, so i don'y put a lot of miles a week on my truck. i go 5,000 miles in between oil changes. the last time i changed the oil was in like september i believe. well i only have 1,900 miles on this oil and filter. i just want to know is it ok to wait until i hit 5,000 miles, or change it before since its going to be probably a year or better by time i hit 5,000 miles with this oil and filter. thanks.

You are waisting money big time using Royal Purple synthetic & changing it evry 5000 miles.

well at first i did it every 3,000 miles. then i figured its one of the best oils and filter plus synthetic, so i went to 5,000 miles. i thought about going 7,500 miles. is that what you would reccomend?

Unless it has changed, the same cars with the same engines using the same oils and filters have recommended change intervals of 7,500 miles in Europe... Run it... :)

7,500 mi is fine for a synthetic, also you don't have the breakdown over time like standard oils. So even if it has been a few months since you changed it then I would not worry.:D

You can also save money purchasing your on oil/filters at Walmart. They have Castrol 5qt Dino for $14 and the best prices I've found on synthetics. They have Motorcraft OE filters for under $4 too!

yea i figured so on synthetic oil. i will go 7500 miles then change the oil and filter. thanks for the input guys!
