Bought my Mounty in december 2008. Paid $4000 with 84000 miles on it. The best $4000 I ever spent!
I have looked through this site on many occasions, mostly all repair related. I am not a mechanically gifted person, however I have never been afraid to give anything a go once. The write-ups a lot of you great people have provided have saved me a lot of money by tackling it myself.
Lets see...
Coolant flush. Had to change thermostat after that. Thankyou.
Wheel hubs. Easier than I thought. Thanks again.
Rear brakes. There was nothing but brown dust inside. Thanks yet again.
About 5 months ago amidst the snow, I pulled out of my driveway and heard a 'pop'. Sway bar linkage on passenger side was gone. Took me 2 days but I just replaced upper control arms, lower ball joints, sway bar links and shocks. Cost me the grand total of $250 and a little sweat. Without your help I probably wouldn't have attempted any of this and would have had my pants pulled down at the garage.
Currently have the back seats ripped out, turning "Malcolm" into a camper. I shall document the whole process. From scouring online it looks like there is no 'camper' write up so I guess I will be the first.
