Help....Please... The Wife has a 2005 Explorer and the Advance Trac and ABS lights are on. The 4X4 high light also flashes sometimes. The system is out of wack because sometimes at slow speeds you can feel and hear the Stability Controle come on and apply the brakes to the left steer wheel. I am a member of the "Big Tool Box Club" and if her Ford was a Freightliner with a 14 L Detroit I would be the man for the job. Being its not a road truck I am looking for help. Have you an idea of whats going on? Thanks for the help.

AdvanceTrac Issue

I am having this same problem.....did you find a fix

sounds like an ABS sensor. I'm chasing the same problem myself but on an '04 without RSC. There should be 4 sensors on a RSC Ex. Front two are in the wheel bearing, Rears should be a tone ring and sensor next to the CV joint, check for dirt or junk on those first. Other than that a stealership should be able to 'read' the ABS module and tell you whats wrong. I've read that it can also be the front bearings and i just replaced on of the hubs without fixing my ABS light (once off it really had a rought spot so it was bad), I plan on doing the other front one next. On my '04 without RSC i only have a sensor on the diff and that failed at 30k mi.

update an old post, since it was resurrected.
so i threw another part at it replacing a good front wheel bearing and its still on, so next I replaced a good rear diff sensor. After $400 in replacing good parts, i gave in and took it in to a local brake shop, pulled a C1440 code-master cyl switch $20. lol, . .with that information. . i spent some money on ODB software for my laptop that could pull ABS codes. It did pay for itself - a year later when doing the front brakes i pulled on the ABS wire by accident and broke it. Luckily i still had those good parts and was able to fix it. ODB software confirmed it.

Exact same problem. 05 explorer eb just got a call from the wife. Bought it 5 days ago 85,000 miles. They said that they had replaced one of the hubs I'll have to check the service records. I'll check to make sure the sensors didn't come unplugged but are they cheap and easy to replace? Former cherokee owner used to workin on 4x4's.

Same problem here. Came on tonight (Saturday). I'm gonna have to find a mechanic on Sunday a.m. Trying to avoid taking it to a place like Sears. I've been pretty lucky though. I have a 2005 XLT with 279,000 miles and haven't had any real issues.
