Hey everyone, I read the thread about the ABS acting up due to a faulty wheel speed sensor... But is there a way to pull just the ABS fuse to get rid of it all together?

hahah Nevermind, I found the Fuse! Sorry to bother you fellas :-)

abs is a good satefy precaution to have

but if you wnat to jsut yank the fuse, you can, and it will disable the system and allow brake lockup

What number is the fuse I have a 96 and no manual for it.. I wanna get rid of mine cause it makes vibrates on me when I am almost stopped.

I wouldnt dare to drive my explorer on the highway again with no ABS, when that moose runs out on the highway you dont really think of pumping the brakes...Skidding sideways in a suv is scary stuff

If you pull the fuse you will lose your speedometer, odometer and eventually your CEL will come on. Just pull the wire for the front wheel sensor or do what I did, and splice a switch inline with it. That way you can have ABS when you want it and you can throw the swtich and disable it for when you don't want it.

my 94 never had an issue when i pulled the fuse, speedo, odometer worked fine, and the cel never came on

When I pulled the fuse in my 98, I lost all that stuff. And eventually the CEL came on. I've had the switch a few months now with no issues. Once you turn the ABS off, you have to flip the switch on and the restart the truck to clear the ABS light and to reset the system.

I pulled the fuse, still have my speedo and stuff... and what is the CEL? Will these guages go eventually not having the fuse in or what? I have a 97 and its the number 14 fuse. I'll put a new sensor in, but I'm outta town for school at the moment, I'll do it when I get back... If anyone has any instructions on which finding which sensor it is and how to fix it (used or new replacement) I'd be one happy dude haha

My 91 only had rear abs and it was not prob. But our 93 had all wheel abs and it never will stop if you need to. We took out the fuse and it stops great. The front breaks loose so much that there it has no stopping power.
