2004 Ford Explorer XLT
I have a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT. I recently changed the rear brakes. A few days later, the ABS light came on and the whole gear box for my 4x4 seems to have gone limp. It locks up when turning at slow speeds.

The codes that come up are C1233, C1234, and C1440. Based on that, I replaced the 2 front ABS sensors, but it made no difference. I have no idea what it can be. Does the gearbox thing have anything to do with the ABS issue?

try replacing the pressure sensor near the master cylinder, it's relatively cheap and common issue with Ford (C1440)

do this and see if that clears the other code.

here's the part# 3L3Z-9F924-AB

When doing brakes, it is important to open the brake fluid reservoir to release pressure when compressing the piston or some pinch the brake hose.

Thank you. I will try that right away...

c1440 - Pressure Transducer Input Circuit Failure

From the Ford service manual, to test the pressure switch

Connector:

- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Brake Pressure Switch C1025.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between connector (GY/YE - wire color) and ground.
- Voltage should be greater than 10 volts

Pressure sensor test:

- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance across the brake pressure switch terminals, component side.
- resistance should be less than 5 ohms

Hope this helps
