I recently changed all the brake pads on my 02 and when i finished i started the truck and the abs light was on and it has stayed on since. I tried disconnecting the battery for a while to try and reset the computer and clear the code but it didn't help. And could the change in fluid levels caused b the pistons being pushed in to accommodate the thicker new pads cause this or no. Thats all i can really think of since the sensors are in the hub and not on the calipers or anything Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks

check the sensor - you might reseat them - my light was on when the wheel bearing went bad - in the process or replacing the wheel bearing, the ABS sensor needed to be pulled out and put back in - this fixed the issue.

did you open the bleeders???
Might still have some air in the lines.

Need to get an ABS Scan Tool and it will tell you the problem .

so i can just unplug and plug the sensor back into the hub or is it harder than that? and no i didnt open the bleeders but any idea how much it would cost to get it scanned

the ABS wheel speed sensor is fixed to the front hub (using an 8mm bolt, if i remember correctly)

you SHOULD be able to access it by turning the wheels to the stops in either direction... this is how a former ford mechanic reccomended to do it myself - in my case, they took it off and put it back on - check and make sure there's no crud on it and make sure the connections are tight - replacing the sensor is the same, but change it out when it's removed.

Okay, well I'll try unplugging and checking the sensors. Then, if that doesn't work I'll have to get it scanned. Thanks for the help guys.
