My 2000 abs light came on & the cruise won't work. Sounds like a bad speed sensor. Can someone tell me which speed sensor it is and how hard it is to replace? Is there a gap setting?

ABS light

It sounds like you are correct about the speed sensorbeing the source of your trouble. It should not be too hard to find someone who could pull codes, which will tell you for sure which wheel.
If you force me to GUESS I would guess the rear sensor, which should still be mounted on the to of the diff on a 2000. It is easy to change and there is no gap to play with.
The ABS module sends the wheel speed signal to all modules on the communication buss, so if one or more speed sensors signals are bad, weak or erratic you get the light and loose cruise. If the sensor is the rear, all ABS is gone, if it is the front you still have Dynamic rear proportioning, which is electronic proprotioning valve.

Don't know if the rear sensor out would cause his cruise to not work...? My ABS light came on when I was home in northern Minnesota for X-mas, ( when you need antilock the most, lol) NO way was I pulling any maintenece up there..lol!! Cruise worked fine on the return trip, about 800 miles, and probably 750 of them in cruise. Got home hooked up Palm, read codes, did diagnostics, bad sensor in rear 20 bucks and 10 minutes to change.

What tool did you use with a Palm to pull ABS codes?!?

Its a program/Hardware adapter called DiagTek.

It's only down side is that it only works on Fords, and some people have other brands of vehicle.. ?? lol. I have a friend who uses another one, I can get the name if you need it, it does most/all ? makes and models, but costs a bit more. His wife has a Saturn so he couldn't just live with the Ford one.
