Last month in very deep snow twice I noted that if a front wheel started to spin significantly the ABS light would come on (I tested operation definitely no ABS when the light was on) if I shut off truck then restarted everything fine (no light and abs working) I mostly leave the knob in "AUTO" unless the situation is quite bad then I use "4 high". All good now but it will snow again some day - Any thoughts ??

The wheel speed sensors could have thrown a code, because the wheels where moving faster then the rears. not sure, maybe somebody else will chime in.

My sport did this too if there was excessive spinning in mud or snow. I just figured the abs system couldn't keep up with the difference in wheel speeds between the different sensors. Like you said, I would just shut the truck down and restart and it would be fine.
