ABS light info needed.

Ok....since I'm stuck at the fire dept. till 8 a.m. and can't get to the local Ford dealer till the morning I figured I'd ask you all here. I need some info on TSB's. Everywhere I look online requires a subscription to read anything more than the title. First is TSB 06-6-9. I have the infamous amber ABS light with code C1440.....and after researching on here looks like it's the pressure switch on the master cylinder. But before replacing it I want to find out what that TSB says since it deals with code C1440. Second, I also had 3 other codes stored in memory.....B2900, U1900 and C1805. I found info online about another service bulletin from Ford that mentions a problem with all 3 of these codes stored in memory on this but can not locate it to read what it says. Even if I couldI'dprobably have to pay to read it...LOL. The bulletin number for that one is NHTSA 10007404 or Bulletin (not sure if it's a TSB or SSM) 17626. If anyone has the ability to find out what these bulletins say and could possibly e-mail me copies or at least tell me what parts it says go bad on each one I would appreciate it. On a related note when I do a harder/short stop....right before my X comes to a final stop I'm getting a clunk/thump from the brakes that I seem to be able to feel in the brake pedal...anyone have similiar symptom?

I can send you TSB 06-6-9, but it's only listed for the 2006 and 2007 model years. The thing basically says to replace the ABS Module if the ABS lamp is lit and code C1440 is thrown.

Here's the interesting part though (from the 2003 WSM, which is all I have):

• B2900 = VIN Mismatched; ABS; VERIFY that the module has the correct as-built data.
• U1900 = CAN Network #1 Communication Bus Fault-Receive Error; Network Fault; REFER to Section 418-00
• C1805 = Mismatched PCM and/or ABS Module; ABS; CHECK for correct component and correct PCM and ABS module configuration. INSTALL a new component as necessary. REFER to Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module . CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test.

It looks like something might be wrong with your ABS module. Send me a pm with your email and I will send you the TSB. Wish I had better news.

Thnx for the e-mail. That's the one thing I miss about working as a Ford Tech.....being able to look up TSB's and SSM's. It looks like it doesn't apply to my year.....and after more research on here looks like that's what the owners of other '04's with the same problem have done. At times with my cruise on and on decel under 35 mph it will stall on me...found a post from another member that had that problem along with code C1440 and the dealership replaced the pressure swich and ABS module and it took care of it. Think I'll replce the switch first since it's common for the code and also can affect the cruise control....much cheaper than replacing the ABS module if it's not needed. I'll update the post here once I replace it....prob will be Monday or Tuesday when I take it into the auto repair shop I work p.t. at to change the oil before next weekends Nascar race trip. Agian...thnx for the help...I appreciate it.

C1440 usually is the master cyclender switch, do that first by all means.
I usually keep a spare around now . . .lol.

however those other codes:
C1805 Mismatched PCM - Reconfigure the component
U1900 Can Buss fault - sec 418-00
B2900 Vin Mismatched - Reconfigure component

was the ABS module replaced? Are you the original owner? sounds like someone swapped in a junkyard ABS module which sounds like its fixable.

But on the can bus fault in the fsm the connector the ABS module is C155 - 47 pins for the can bus plus its pin11 can bus minus is pin15.
could the wrong year have been swapped in?
there might be some dates and or part numbers that might suggest something.

Yeah,...went to the local Ford dealer today and ordered a new pressure switch for the master cylinder. That looks to be the common cause for C1440. The other sympton I have had lately is on decel under 35 with the cruise on the engine will stall. I read another member on here had the same symptom along with code C1440 and the dealership replaced his pressure switch and ABS module. As far as the other 3 codes I did find info online about a NHTSA message that deals with all 3 of them but can not find the whole message anywhere to read it. I even went to the local dealer and had them check for SSM's but nothing was found. So...guess I'll just replace the switch and go from there.

Hey jr...how far are you from Michigan Speedway?.....I'll be up there next weekend for the Nascar race. I work on the fire-rescue crew for Nascar at the track.

on the "I have had lately is on decel under 35 with the cruise on the engine will stall. " i think they all do it, my guess its more of an 'oops' when they set up the cruise program. . .most cars/trucks will just turn off cruise below 40mph while the Ex will try and slow the truck down till it kills itself . . .i just never use it other than the highway.

Michigan Speedway, not to far about 90mi, but i'm taking the family camping that weekend.

Well.....I replaced the pressure switch on the master cylinder before a trip to Michigan Speedway this past weekend (I work on the fire-rescue crew for Nascar) and no more ABS light. Looks like that was the cause of my code C1440. Seems to be that I'm not the only one who has had that code and failed part.

Did that remove b2900 as well plz?
