The ABS light came on about 2 weeks ago and I was having bearing type noise coming from the front so I replaced both front wheel hubs. Yesterday I hopped in the truck and when I started it up the ABS light stayed on. I drove to the store (abs light on the whole way), parked and shut off the truck. When I came back out and started the truck up again the light was off and stayed off the whole way home. Now in both scenarios the brakes worked perfectly.

Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

When you replaced the hubs you had to disconnect the ABS sensor on each one. If the battery was on at anytime while one was disconnected, and maybe even if the battery was disconnected, the ABS system might think the sensor had gone bad and thrown the code. After letting it realize through self diagnostics that there is a good sensor plugged in the system turns the error light off. You did plug in the new sensors right? Not positive but that's what comes to mind.

The regular brake operation shouldn't be affected the ABS just wouldn't kick in if you hit a slick patch of road. Now if the ABS is kicking in on its own when it's not supposed to that's a different story.

I had the battery disconnected during the switch and I did plug in both new sensors;).

So is the truck just going through a learning mode right now? I have only driven it twice since I replaced the hubs.

Yes I expect so. As long as the ABS light stays off and doesn't come back on it was probably just adjusting to the change.

Alright, Thanks :)
