I recently changed the front wheel bearing on my '98 4x4 Ex, and instead of replacing the ABS sensor with the one that came with the new bearing, I kept the old sensor. Now my ABS light turned on, and it wasn't on before. I was wondering if there is some special way to install the sensor in the hub such that it registers, or if I should just put the new one in and see if that will fix it.
Pretty much what i want to know is if the old sensor is bad and it wasn't indicated, or it was reinstalled improperly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

did the new sensor look like the old one?

it could be just the design of the hub where the ring is, which is why now you throw a code, since its different and it dont see the new ring as it did as the old.

try the new sensor the old one might of broke coming out.

else maybe the hub is miss built and does not have a tone ring in it..

What a weird thing to do, I hope ya get it fixed. I always just leave the new sensor attached and slap the bearing in, the wiring is the easiest thing. :)

I guess I'll just put in the new sensor. It's so cold outside, so I wanted to make sure I only have to take everything apart once.
