ABS tone ring location..

It's my understanding that the ABS ring on 02+ explorers could be either on the carrier itself or the rear CV axle. Can anyone confirm this or at least give insite as to why there would be two different locations?

if you have RSC, Advance Trac, you should have two outboard the half shafts. If you dont have RSC i thought there was only one on top of the Diff, the tone ring is part of the ring gear and sits next to it. It is replaceable from the top.
