I have a 06 explorer with a 4.6, its throwing a code c1235, the abs light is on as is the tool light and the traction control light, yesterday in the snow I went to leave a parking spot and the whole truck bogged down and nose dived when I tried to leave, I was finally able to get it to break free and thats when all the lights come on. The lights now come on when I go over 20mph. When the lights come on the four wheel doesn't kick on like it normally does when it slips in the snow it just stays in rwd, but the four wheel drive seems to work fine if I turn it on my self, I also noticed when I drive in the snow with the four wheel drive on at slow speeds while turning it makes a noise coming from the from driver wheel that sounds like a grinding noise. The noise started last year when I was in a unplowed parking lot that had 20+ inches of snow. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks!

One of the front ABS sensors is shot. You'll need a new hub assembly.
Somebody here just had same issue.
Check the posts from the last week or so.

Okay thanks, do you think that can cause the four wheel drive not to kick on too?

It's possible. Those systems are interconnected electronically: 4x4, RSC, ABS, ....

When my sensor went bad, I could not move from a stop, like all my brakes locked.

Thats what mine seemed to do too. i couldnt move, thanks again for the help!

I just have mine replaced because my hub barrings went back with caused the wires to separate and get water and stuff inside done do just one if it's only one replace both so they wear evenly your better off, yes it'll cost a good chunk of money but it be worth it

Hi guys, C1235 refers to the right rear input signal. It is quite possible in this case that the tone ring on the right rear has come unseated and that is all that is wrong. I had major issues with mine coming unseated in very cold weather early on but since I manually heated them up and pressed them back in place no issues since.

Rear tone ring, $10 part = pita to change.

Hi everyone well I have the same issue with the engine bogging down and traction control light comes on especially when I'm turning to the left on the hwy, but I have already changed both hubs 3 months ago. The issue just started about a month ago and its getting worse.help!

after a couple of suggestions I looked at a youtube video that showed exactly the same symptoms my truck is doing, and it turned to be a busted ABS ring, only problem is that I didn't see a crack in mine, but I did noticed that my sway bar link is snapped off and the problem always occurred when I was going around a bend at 20+ mph, so do anyone think that this may be the problem. Well I will fix that in the morning and give it a test on the way to the dealership to just get an estimate on the ring replacement.

RSC System

I have a 2010 Ford explorer. I have never owned anything with RSC system. Where do I find the sensors???

Almost sure that RSC module is located between front row seats under the center console handrest.
