ABS Warning Light Came On?

Well, from what I've learned, there are 3 sensors, 1 in each front wheel, and one on the rear diff. The only way to know for sure before you start removing parts is to have the code read. I checked the rear first, as it seems to be the most common, I put an ohm meter across it, and it read infinite, so I replaced it, problem went away. I think the normal range is 1200-1500 ohms.

That's what I've read from other posts. I heard Auto Zone reads codes? Anyone know if this is true/free?:navajo:

Yup. It's true and free. They will do this so you will hopefully buy the parts from them.;)

Cool, if I run by there tomorrow...will their code reader confirm that it is the rear (diff.) sensor? I'm cutting Christmas trees this weekend and will be on the ice so ABS would be nice.:navajo:

i replaced the rear speed sensor and that took car of the problem like you said thank you

I still haven't gotten around to replacing that sensor:D . However I did got to Autozone to run my codes. Their reader didn't do ABS lights and wouldn't delete it either:rolleyes: . I'll try to do a quick write-up with pictures if I ever get around to replacing the darn thing!:navajo:

I finally got around to changing out the sensor on the rear differental. So easy, it doesn't deserve pictures or a write-up. However, the new sensor did not get rid of the ABS warning light....or return my ABS to working condition. I'll check the relays. Does anyone know if the front ABS sensors are as easy to replace?:navajo:

ABS light goes on and off on my wife's 2000 Ford Explorer, coyuld it be the brakes are gone?

Had my light come on out of nowhere. It was throwing codes for both the ront left and rear pumpkin sensor(1155 and 1230). I went to Advance Auto since the use a code reader that also does ABS. The people there don't even know how to use them. They have to plug in your car type first and then it will work. When the code goes off take it there if you can. I replaced the pumpkin sensor and the left hub. Unfortunately I just replaced the hub two years ago and it went on me already. The sensors for the front hub are slightly less than a full hub from Napa. The second I plugged the wire in for the new hub the light went off.
