97 explorer xlt 5.0 awd
So I have 97 explorer with the 5.0 in it. The ac compressor locked up this morning and prevented it from starting. I have bypassed the compressor using a shorter belt but its rubbing on the lower hose running from the water pump to oil cooler. Has anyone else bypassed their ac and had this issue? Is there a different way to route the belt?

I was initially told that might not fit. I followed this video and used the shorter dayco belt.

dunno 1aauto, autozone, advance auto parts and a few other list that specific bypass pulley kit. using a bypass pulley is fairly common cheap fix for your exact problem. doing something as simple as putting on a smaller belt is also fairly common but generally a temporary due to being stuck on the side of the road or just dont have the time or cash to do anything else. there are a handful of other videos on YouTube doing what your trying to do with a smaller belt you can check to see if they do anything special?
