I nosed around a bit looking to see if this question was already asked, couldnt find its, so here it goes.

I fairly recently bought a '00 ranger xl 3.0 v6. The guy before me didnt want to change out the faulty tensioner and serp belt, so to make the squeak go away when it was wet, he used baking powder.:thumbdwn: I guess eventually this built up in the ac compressor, and now it is making the most god awful noise imaginable. Its like a grinding squeal, as if there is stuff crammed inside the bearing or something. The only way to temporarily shut it up is to douse it with wd40, which i dont like doing, and it lasts for about 45 seconds before the noise comes back. I changed the belt and tensioner, so that is fine. I went through with an air compressor and blew out every piece of baking powder i possibly could, yet its still not enough. Is there a way to remove it and check to see if there is stuff stuck inside? Or should i just replace the damn thing, which is like 200 bucks?

thanks
