2004 Explorer XLT
I have a 2004 explorer XLT. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge but this is the first ford I have owned and I am new to the whole system.

My air condition is working but not blowing as strong as I think it should be. The rear air blows at a much much higher rate/speed then the front AC does. From my research the common problem is the "blend door" on the passenger side behind the glove compartment. This is not the case on mine, I have checked this door and its working just fine. I can not tell if the air is coming up thru the windshield or not.

I have looked at what I assiune are the vacuum lines behind the glove box and they look fine? No cracks from what I can see but I do not know exactly how to check for that. Or even if I knew which color to check for maybe I can just disconnect that particular vacuum line and see if anything changes.

All of the forum searches and YouTube videos direct me to the blend door fix, which isn't my problem. Air blows cold- just not hard/strong.

Please advise. Thanks.

Can you change where the air goes, panel vents, defrost, floor, etc? If so, the blend door is operating properly.

The door behind the glove box/air bag is the fresh air/recirculate door. Those things cause all kinds of problems such as low air flow, cold air blasting in while moving when it's cold outside, a/c getting hot while moving in the summertime.

Another issue you may have is the blower resistor. After fixing the recirc door, the center 2 speeds were same as low. I had only high and low speeds. I replaced that and the blower works properly. It's located in the duct on the passenger side of the dash, 2 5/16" or 8mm bolt hold it in. I don't think you have to do much disassembly to get to the resistor.
