So my AC has been working on and off lately. By that I mean sometimes it runs when I start the car, and sometimes it doesn't run at all. It's been like that for a few weeks now. For the most part, when it doesn't come on, it will all of a sudden pop on and start blowing while driving. When it's not running, it doesn't matter where I turn the dial nothing comes on, AC, MAX AC, Defrost, etc. The only thing that offers a bit of heat relief is when I have it on AC and on driving on the highway, a very small cool breeze comes through the vents. Can anybody offer any suggestions as to what I might need to look for?

Thanks

Sounds like its low on freon...........

you most likely have a leak (small) in the system and it is slowly leaking out refrigerant. 134a is what you need however don't go and get one of the crappy recharge kits, get yourself some gauges and do it properly. glacier has a great writeup on this forum about a/c systems check it out.

Blower motor or blower motor relay.

I think the blower motor relay is probably the problem. I picked up a new motor yesterday at Autozone. I got the old one out, however I was unable to figure out how to take the blower motor fan off. I figured, I'd at least hook up the relay and turn the car on to see the the motor was even the problem. I flipped it on to accessory mode and the fan spun perfect. I put everything back together and everything was blowing fine. However once this afternoon, it crapped out again, but I just pushed the relay in a bit and it came right on. May need to eventually replace the relay, but seems rigged well enough for the time being. Thanks for all the help.

Not a problem the same thing happened to me last summer, so I know how much it can suck.
