Need help I changed out the orifice valve on my 2001 Ranger edge 2WD. When I try to charge the AC system I clog the orifice and have to change it again. What should I do ? :us:

How do you know that you clogged the orifice? And how does someone do that anyway when charging the AC? There should be no contaniments in there to clog anything unless I don't understand the question. Did you evacuate the system?

If you can feel your orifice is clogged, then get some pepto bismol.. :D Inside joke between some of us east coasters..

When I removed the old orifice it was clogged with small debris. I installed a new one and it did the same thing. Could I be installing it backwards maybe?

I'm not much on auto AC, but i'm just curious, did you ever have a burned out compresor and had it changed?

AC issues with 95 explorer

My problem I am having is this....

I had the ac cycling the compressor on and off, so I was told to see if it was over charged in the process of doing so the freon is no more and the system is dry. I jumpered the low side switch (I think) on the accumulator and got the compressor to stay on, I did not leave it run for very long. This is telling me the switch is bad, is that correct? Now all I have right now is the can of freon from wal mart with the green, yellow, and red gauge on it. Now when I try to refill the freon it is automatically in the red stating there is another problem with the system. Now I already suspect the orifice tube, but I am gonna get a set of real gauges to see what is really going on. It does take freon in when I try to charge it, but kinda of worried about the gauge being in the red, and was wondering if I should wait till I get the new switch, gauges and then try to fill it, or should i try now and see if it works like it should. I have really very little experience with auto ac's and any help would be greatly appreciated, I have not broke open any lines yet and plan to evac it before the final charging is done. Oh and the high side switch (I believe the one by the compressor) has also been jumped over as it stopped working as well, going to be replaced as well.

Sorry for the long post.

Thanks again

Dan
