2015 Ford Explorer Sport
I have a 2015 Explorer Sport with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). It disengages when the vehicle slows to 18 MPH as designed. My question is: Can this system be upgraded to the Stop-And-Go ACC as is found on more modern Ford cars? I'm happy with my 2015 and would rather not buy a new one!

I'm not aware and doubt that the current ACC can be modified as per your request. None of the current Explorers have that technology yet. Perhaps the 2020 model may have it.

Yeah it requires more tech than our 5th gen Explorers have on-board for full stop/go.

Ok. I saw Ford advertising it, though not on an Explorer. Figured if available in the sedans, would be there for the SUV's.

Does the Adaptive cruise control on a 2017 Limited have stop and go for does it disengage when the speed limit gets to low?

If it does can the software be upgrade to do stop and go?

No, the 5th generation Explorer does not have that feature. As per your Owner's Manual;
The system does not operate below
12 mph (20 km/h).

I’m just about certain the hardware present currently on the 5th gen with ACC could do stop and go. I’m sure it’s mainly a software change. But I know they would never update it.

I've done digging through Forscan on my '15 Explorer, had to disable ACC cause the sensor for distance is missing so it disabled the entire cruise control system. I took note of the option to enable ACC Stop N Go. Maybe it'd need some ABS retrofitting, but the software is there.

You're right about it missing hardware. The hardware equipped on the 5th gen Explorer is not accurate at close range. So when the vehicle gets below a certain speed it will fully disengage. My brother's '18 Lincoln MKZ has Stop and Go, so while you could definitely retro fit the hardware, I don't know that the modules that control it would be programmed to utilize it, despite being "on" in Forscan.
