I've got a 97 4dr 2wd and im considering doing a 2 or 3 inch lift to it. the question is, which one would be the best for the rear, get a 2 or 3 inch add a leaf and popping that in, or shackles and whatnot and try that out? im planning on doing a tt in the front since i dont have a front ... anything to worry about putting stress on.

Well, i did both to mine. The shackle is going to give you a few inches maybe and the leaf is going to help with the strength. I like my setup and the shackle allows for some good flex.

Happy trails!!

Well, since you want 2-3", I'd say try the double aal first and add the shackles if you want more.

ok thanks for the info. will i have to do anything with the springs and stuff with that much, or can i get about 2 inches with just standard leaf and or shackles, with stock springs. and finally, with a this, does it just lift the suspension or the body or both? what i mean is will it make like a bigger distance from the differential to the ground or just the tires to the body?

I was JUST going to do a search on "shackles" when I saw this thread!

I am looking into getting a set of Warrior Shackles and I called the local 4X4 shop to see if they carried them. They can order them for me, but brought up the question of the shackles changing the pinion angle of the driveshaft. I might be just me, but I can't see how lifting the body would change the pinion angle. Can someone explain this to me?

Thanks, and Bran, I hope you don't mind that I posted my Question here!

aal and shackles are both suspension lifts. They lift the frame away from the axles. A body lift lifts the body away from the frame.

You should not need to do anything else, except possibly get longer shocks. Any suspension lift will change your driveshaft angle, but 2-3" in the rear is a minimal amount.

Thanks, Alec!

I have Trailmaster SSV's on the rear now. I wonder how I'd figure out what shock I'd need to get. Maybe trailmaster might be able to tell me if they make a longer shock with the same ends. Sound like a idea?

I have an extended driveshaft also, so mabe the change in pinion angle might be absorbed by the extra lenght?

I'm still learning here!!!!

The shackles will change the pinion angle a little, but won't hurt anything.
