hahaha are you adding NOS?
a little more info might help there, help us help you.

Which 4.0L? OHV or SOHC
What kind of power adders are you looking for?

If it's his 01 he's SOHC, non- hypertec pistons, get a good programmer and hit that puppy with a 75 shot of NOS like 410 says, save some money for a new tranny later if 5R55E, be carefull, drive safe:)

wasnt 01 the last year of the OHV?

With the '01 Sport, you didn't have a choice. Only the 4.0L SOHC was available.

me meen how much horse power can I can to my suv before it blows or becomes bad and I got $6.254 for it and I would just upgrade to a v8 but v6 good for me

Get a Tornado and an exhaust tip with red LEDs.

107.589 horse power before it blows up.

No seriously your question makes no sense at all. Speak english.
How do you "add horsepower"?

Just go buy some and pour it in?
Horsepower and torque are an end result of tuning and boosting.
There are many ways to do both.

Alright well I am interested as well. I have a 4.0 OHV

Maybe someone post the "basics" or first steps to tuning the Engine for more Torque

You can't just "tune" an engine for more torque. You've got to spend major money. Superchargers are the easiest and most cost-effective way to add major power. 4.0 engines aren't like 5.0s or Chevy small blocks in that there's a lot of aftermarket support for them. I've never seen aftermarket heads/cams for it. SEARCH and you'll find other ways to add small amounts of power like intakes.

Depends on how you're planning on getting 300 hp. If you're going to take a stock motor and add a 150 shot of nitrous to it, it'll probably blow up. If you're going to get a blower/intake/new TB/etc. for it, it'll handle it well.

I'm going to get the X Charger I think it add about 79 plus power

It all depends on how you want to approach it.

1. Add a supercharger to stock engine and a intercooler pump it up to 17 Psi get it tuned and chipped add NOS and take bet’s on how long the engine will last. But you will see good power gains, depending on how much potential is in the stock engine.

2. Get the heads ported and polished, bore the intake and exhaust valves out, new valve sprigs and valves possibly a new lumpier cam, Extractors + exhaust new fuel injector’s, race pistons, custom built intake manifold and twin throttle body’s (One for each cylinder bank). Then move on and get it chipped and dyno tuned. (###* yeah)

Option 2 will probably blown the budget a bit!!

Just one question it is a Explorer not a sports car why would you spend all that money on engine Pro-Formance for a 4WD, I think you are driving the wrong car if you need speed and horse power and want to run 10second ¼ miles go and buy a V8 or 6 cylinder spots car which is engineered for speed and handling.

If I had $7000 lying around I would be spending it on off-road modifications. At 155Kw and 340Nm of toque the V6 goes all right and isn’t’ exactly slow.

Good luck with the project regardless. Just talk to ford as well to find out the horsepower rating of the block.

I think you are dreaming now; it won't add 79 RWHP, sorry.

The X Charger will add 79+ horsepower. I know this for a fact. Dont worry, your not dreaming. ;) :D
