psst and yes ...upon install be glad to sell you the diff cover!
It's like you knew I was waiting for that message

changed course to simplify FUTURE parts hunting. I will be remove/replacing ONLY the carrier in the diff. That wau in the future when i or future owner needs axles (the cv's do go bad) or an axle seal (they go bad too) it's not some ******* thing that only 3 people can figure out! So now just to get the time to do this as it will take a full day to remove diff, measure gear stuff, set up the posi carrier and reinstall. Got new carrier bearings and seals and will replace the pinion seal while i'm there. ALL this just to be able to do a proper burnout.......jeez

coming soon after Christmas break.!! Got the posi torn apart and cleaned up. Should be putting bearing on it today.

The cover is in the mail.

A tech note i forgot to add. The tone ring "on the differential" is sandwiched between a small relief step in the carrier and the ring gear making gears from either model interchangable AND the carriers interchangable between years.

Video will be posted once completed as well as build up pics.

Well my window of opportunity isn't going to work out. ARGHHH. I was supposed to tear down truck yesturday and measure stuff today...well all went to chit as the STOVE quit! (and got lots of cooking to do) Since I amd having shoulder surgery next week....i guess in a couple months I will get to it. NOTE: after measuring some of the 8.8 carrier shims I had they seem to be in the .275+ and the SUPER SHIMS set I have measure around .240 so I ALSO need to make a few more shims but until I measure the ACTUAL gear set coming out...i aint messing with it.

I got the cover. I'm looking forward to seeing your project at completion.

ARGH...what a PITA. It's done video coming soon. All worked out THEN after letting it run on the stands for a few minutes....I discover one of the cv boots is torn. Still going to do burn outs!!!

On previous entry^^^.... seems the shim set i had is actually for a GM 8.5 NOT the Ford 8.8. Ran to Summit and pickedd up the CORRECT shim set as another opportunity presented itself. The SKSS12 set measures about .310 each with all the shims.

I wish I could do that. Summit needs to come to Phoenix.

I know they don't compare but aren't Super Shops, Fly-n-Hi, or 4Wheelers still in business?

Super shops isn't around here, I like 4 wheel parts. Fly-N-Hi, my roommate had a lift installed there and they did trash work, installed a trash lift kit he didn't want. Dunbar spring sold him exactly what he wanted.

Well the little 4.0 just aint got enough UMPH...to leave stripes. So I guess I will add some bleach and make it happen.

150 shot of giggle gas

Finally....as promised...the results VIDEO!!!!!

Thank you for posting that. Now the project is complete.

Complete is a BIG word....lol At least it can actually EXPLORE a little bit know. Know to go thru the fun of lowering it and sorting out the camber/toe NON-adjustment Ford stuck us with and the NOT AVAILABLE FOR 06-11 drop springs and stuff. argh 2" all the way around should set it about "cool" but usable.
