Does anyone know what the AUX button is for on the Mach 460? Are there auxilary RCA inputs??

Mach 460/Mach 1000

Rick -

You had me puzzled there for a while. When I retired a year ago, we had no radios in production with an "AUX" button on it.

Checking through my stuff, I could not find one with the AUX button. When I checked Ford's site, I see that they say that the CD6 radio in the Mach 1 is "Sirrius Satellite Radio compatible". So I think they have labeled one of the buttons "AUX" to be able to access the remote Sirrius tuner, or the PhatBox hard-drive juke-box. We were working on those systems before I retired, but had not introduced them yet.

As far as adding subwoofers to your Mach 460, Visteon offers a "Mach 1000" upgrade package for the Mach 460 system: Visteon Aftermarket Sales

You can call 1-800-VISTEON to find the name of the nearest Ford Authorized radio sales/service center near you.

I don't think you will find any RCA-type inputs on your radio. All of the inputs and outputs of the radio (including external Sub, CD Changer, Sirrius Satellite, or PhatBox) are handled by the four integral connector blocks on the back of the radio.

regards,

Jeff

the other way to add a sub is just get an amp with speaker level inputs and then power a sub with it. I used to do this all the time. Or you can buy a line output converter and use any amp (speaker level inputs just have the L/O conv. built into the amp)

this is a very easy install

To make matters more interersting it has yet another button labeled SAT. So that one is for the Sirrius.

I was reading a bit about the Mach 1000 system. And from what I understand the upgrade doesn't sound as good as the "installed" unit. Different crossover frequencies or something like that...

the AUX button is for anything that will plug into the back of the HU...i-pod mp3 mini disc players all of those would use the AUX button on the HU to switch to them

i belive..least thats how it is on any other stock HU i have futsed with that has an AUX button

hope that helps
