I have done research on this forum as well as others on this topic and failed to find any information on attempting to add this option to the 02-05 Mountaineer/Explorer. I ordered a power adjustable pedal assembly for $50 and plan on installing it on my 02 Mountaineer. All of the wiring seems to already be in place. My Mountaineer has the memory driver seat as well as almost all of the rest of the options. Is this going to be a plug-and-play type setup or am I going to have to do some splicing? Also, will the memory setting for the driver's seat work for the pedals as well? Thank you for any help or advice.

I have the power pedals and there is a switch kinda behind the keys in ignition next to that random vent thing...the switch has a pedal and foot on it and is a toggle switch
Has nothing to do with the power seats...
Can find pics if needed but its all on the center side of the column....

I forgot to mention I ordered the bezel that has the switch cutout for the power pedals. The plug for the power pedal switch is already in place behind the bezel where the switch would go if it had the option from the factory, there is just no cut-out for the switch. Do you have memory driver's seat? I've read that the power pedal and power seat memory work together. I'm not sure if that applies to the early-build 2002 models with the driver's memory seat. Could you take pictures of where the plugs are under the steering column for the power pedals? There is a green plug under the driver's kick panel that has nothing plugged into it. I'm hoping that's where the pedals plug into. Thanks for the help!

That is true, they do work together. I don't have the Ex with me to check for you, but i was able to add the Backup Sensors to mine. All the wire was there and it was plug and play.

Yeah, my Mountaineer already has rear park assist, just no power pedals on it. I'm curious to see what else it's pre-wired for. I'd really like to add the factory subwoofer, Audiophile speakers, and stereo if the wiring is already there as well. The base sound system is way too weak in my opinion. I think it's stupid sometimes when car companies prewire something that would be so cheap for them to go ahead and make standard... which would be a great selling point for the vehicle when it's new. For example, I've seen a Land Rover that didn't have heated seats from the factory. It had the heating elements in the seat and all the wiring, the only thing it needed to work was the on/off switch to be put in place. Anyways, thank you for the help. :)

most of the wiring should be there EXCEPT for the radio. I added an Audiophile radio, but had to add wiring for the sub; it already had the RSE and steering wheel controls. Had a post on it a while back. . . .

If stock radio and no RSE or Steering wheel, i'd go aftermarket radio. If i wanted to keep the stock radio so i could keep the extras i'd just add a 5 channel amp. With an audiophile the radio is tuned for cheap speakers, cut-off's and such, you throw it all out of wack when you add halfway decent speakers. Treble is brilliant and bass is non-existent.

Mine has the steering wheel radio controls and the cd/cassette radio. Thanks for the help. I'll look into it.

Just for anyone else that is interested in adding power pedals, I successfully installed them and they work perfectly. They even work correctly with the memory seat function. The hardest part was mounting them without unbolting the dashboard (Ford repair manual says that the dash has to be unbolted and moved back 2 inches). Other than that, it was plug-n-play! All of the wiring and plugs are already in place. You just need the bezel with the power pedal switch and the pedal assembly (Ford no longer makes the pedal assembly, I had to find a used one). The guy at the Ford dealership told me that it was not possible to add the power pedals if it didn't come with them from the factory. Gotta love people that pretend like they know what they're talking about when they really have no clue.

Did you ever take pictures of the install. I was at the salvage yard the other day and found an 03 Ex with the power pedals, but could not get all the bolts out to remove it. any help would be appreciated. thank you
