Hey guys,

I have a 2004 EB explorer with the dvd system and subwoofer option. I am going to be adding 1 15" subwoofer as well as a 1000 watt amp. I have the wires and I was wondering what else was needed to hook this baby up. Also, how do the wires hook up? What else do I need to buy, I heard that I need to buy some type of converter for something since I will be using the stock headunit. Is this a bad idea. Because if I get an aftermarket headunit, I cant use the dvd player anymore.

Here is a few pics of what I have so far.

Should I just have best buy do it for me? How much will they charge?

your gonna need a line out converter.. it just takes the hi voltage singal from your stock radio to a low voltage singnal for your subwoffer amp to amplify. they go for like 25 a best buy.. prob about the same elsewhere. your not really gonna have that much control over the sub though.. it's nice to be able to adjust the sub vol, and freq from the headunit.. but a stock radio will work

Ok sweet. Can anyone just tell me what I have to do to install this and which wires go where?

if you dont have the factory sub and need to tap into the front and rear speakers behind the stock radio these are the speaker wire colors
LF Speaker: org/lt. grn (+) - lt. blu/wht (-)
RF Speaker: wht/lt. grn (+) - grn/org (-)
LR Speaker: gry/lt. blu (+) - tan/yel (-)
RR Speaker: org/red (+) - brn/pnk (-)
