Adjusting engine valves

I just installed a new re-manufactured engine 4.0L V6 SOHC 2wd 2001 Explorer Sport Trac.

First firing up it sounded great! Problem now it's starting to make a weird ticking or tapping noise..it's coming from the driver side valve area. I havent got the chance to drive it yet. I want to make sure this issue is taken care of before the truck gets on the road.
The manufacturer says to adjust the valves after engine reaches temperature. I'm hoping this is the problem.


Question is can you adjust the valves on this type of engine?

There's no way to adjust the valves. The Lash Adjusters do that automatically. The LA's are suppose to be soaked in engine oil to allow bleeding of air out of the system. Oil pressure at idle upon start-up is not enough to bleed the LA's so you will either have to raise the idle to around 3000 RPM for about 30 minutes, or take it for a long drive while being gentle on the engine.

No explorer has adjustable valves, their hydraulic. However, my mom's old 04 civic.... manually adjusted. Seriously Honda?
