Did you mark and put back in correct order the pushrods and or tappets?

yes i lubed them and replaced them in the order they where removed

It should only take the hydraulic lifters a few seconds of adequate oil-pressure to fill them and take care of any lash caused by the lifters bleeding down while you had the heads off. I don't know if you removed the rocker-arms when you had the heads off or not but unless your oil journals are plugged, that tapping should have stopped within a few seconds to maybe 1 minute.

and the rockerarm is torqued down to spec i was wondering if the valves did not self adjust themselves maybe my new gasket is to thick i got a cheep set off ebay maybe i should have spent the extra cash and got the fel pro,s
