adjusting rear brakes on 93 X??

I know there are adjusters somewhere on the inside of the drum. Can you drive in reverse and slam on the brakes and that will adjust them? Someone told me to do that. Is that true. thanks fellas
 






Yes and no. There are self adjusters in the rear brakes and they are designed to adjust when the brakes are applied while backing up, but rarely (if ever) do they work properly. In order for them to work, everything in the system must be functioning properly and the brakes need to be fairly close in initial adjustment. Even then, they don't keep the brakes properly adjusted. The best way to maintain proper adjustment is to manually adjust the brakes every 5000 miles or so.
