I had an alignment done, but it was done for free by the mechanics at my school. Everything seems fine, but they were rushed for time and didn't straighten my steering wheel. I would take it back to them, but the class is not doing alignments anymore. So, I did a search and found something about adjusting the tie rod
to straighten the wheel. If I do this, won't it screw up my alignment again? If this won't screw it up, how exactly would I go about doing this?

Thnx

98Sport, you need to loosen the lock nuts on the tie rod ends, and turn the ends the exact same amount (one side in, the other out) until the steering wheel centers.

If the steering wheel is tilted toward the left when the X is going straight, you need to lengthen the left tie rod end, and shorten the right (and vice-versa).

Ok, thnx. I will do it this weekend.

Take it to a shop and have it done correctly. I do this for a living and can tell you that no matter how careful you are, you'll never get the toe correctly adjusted without the proper equiptment.

What do you think they will charge me?
